Artists Statement

Figurative art does not have to be descriptive or search for the impressionist “la petite sensation.”
It belongs in-between the literal and abstract through a relationship of planes, rhythms, and contrast; as a reinterpretation,
or re-imagining, of our surroundings. The emotional and the intellectual are expressed through composition
where everything has to hold together, and be constructed, even under an effortless appearance.

Texture layering and pigmentation should be the result of in-depth development and not as a visceral gratifying
surface effect.
