Artists Statement
My approach to painting is based on my interest in strong contrasts and odd juxtapositions . The formal elements and the content of my work demonstrate this awareness of opposites and unexpected connections. My paintings refer to conflicting emotional states, earthly instances of agony and euphoria, or spiritual ideas of heaven and hell as afterlife. Fun and disappointment, pleasure and pain, joy and sadness coexist together on each canvas, just as they often occur in life. I explore these ideas in my abstract world of paint through my use of color, form, and pictorial space. |
