Artist in Residence unveils "Zen of Opulence” Exhibit

New Haven , CT – White Space Gallery presents new works by Resident Artist Denise Parri in the show entitled “Zen of Opulence”. This one-woman show will run September 1 thru 30, with an opening reception to be held on Friday, September 8 from 5 to 8 p.m. The exhibit presents a series of meditative works signaling a new direction in Ms. Parri’s 32-year artistic career. Parri remarks that with her current works “I hope to take the viewer on a journey of visual introspection that leads to serenity, balance and peace”.

A Connecticut native, now residing in Hamden, Ms. Parri’s work which includes jewelry design, sculpture, painting, set design and faux finishing, have all served as vehicles for her artistic expression and the means for raising her two children, now young adults. Ms. Parri’s previous efforts were focused largely on custom and commissioned works including, notably, eight wall sculptures which were exhibited on the 21 st floor of the World Trade Center . She is a prolific artist of extraordinary intensity, and describes working feverishly for weeks on end to complete installations in rapid succession throughout Connecticut , New York and Florida . Ms. Parri now works with the same intensity from her home studio, creating works which are sought after by designers and collectors from across the United States .

Ms. Parri explains that as a young artist you have “an uninhibited freedom of expression; however schooling and training and bringing o the rs commissioned ideas to light can change that.” She quotes Picasso, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once he grows up.” Parri goes on to say, “I’ve now recaptured my true artistic self and the liberation is exhilarating.”

White Space Gallery is a fine art gallery featuring hand-signed lithographs of the Surrealist Masters Dali, Picasso, Chagall and Miro. The gallery also spotlights surrealist, contemporary and abstract fine art by hosting a diverse array of original art by emerging prominent international and local living artists and sculptors.
